I loved making this adorable pink cake! The cake design is based on an invitation from Swoozies, a fantastic stationary store. The cake is Fresh Strawberry Buttermilk Cake with pink Vanilla Buttercream and is topped with pink vanilla rolled fondant. The gymnast on the cake is illustrated with edible marker on white fondant and drawn to resemble the birthday girl!

Viola Cake
It's must be fate that brought this Viola Cake order to me this week. As a middle school (and elementary and high school orchestra alum) I was able to channel my own middle school orchestra concert experience into creating this Viola Cake! I envisioned the hours spent in the orchestra room that had the vague smell of spit, (I think the trombone guys emptied their excess drool onto the floor) and our sometimes off key and tempo attempts at the classical masterpieces. Yup, I was a dork. Still am.
The cake is Vanilla Buttermilk with Double Chocolate Cream Cheese Buttercream Frosting, topped with Light Chocolate Rolled Fondant.

I had the most amazingly fantastic cake orders this week! It started with the Harry Potter Cake and ended with this enormous Topsy Turvy Cake! Imagine you and your best friend are celebrating your 16th birthdays, how do you do it in style? With a Red Carpet Premier themed party and this cake for you and your 60 closest friends!!!
This cake is SEVEN layers of Vanilla and Chocolate Marbled Cake, with Vanilla Buttercream, and covered in Rolled Fondant. The birthday girls are sculpted out of sugar paste and fondant.

Purple, Birds, and Stars
The name of this cake pretty well describes the pieces of this cake design puzzle! An elegant cake for a 40th birthday! This cake story really begins with an adventurous delivery to Raleigh. While, I love my GPS, I questioned it's route today! I also cursed lots when the cars in front of me stopped short behind a car turning left off of Wade Ave. Disaster was narrowly averted and the cake survived with a minimal dent. Argh.

Tokidoki Cupcakes
I admit I'm somewhat out of touch with pop culture, so when I got a request for these Tokidoki Cupcakes, I needed a little direction! A customer ordered these for her roommate who is turning 21! To put it in terms I could understand she wrote, "They're kinda like Hello Kitty characters."
For this vanilla and strawberry fan, I whipped up some Buttermilk Vanilla Cupcakes and Strawberry Buttermilk Cupcakes and then topped them with Vanilla Buttercream and Fresh Strawberry Buttercream Frosting! The Tokidoki birds are individually hand crafted using rolled fondant and then individually colored with edible markers!

Harry Potter Cake
I loved making this cake! After some, well, years of protest, I finished the Harry Potter series this fall. And I'm glad I did. It was the perfect inspiration for this cake!
The cake is five layers of Baker's Cakes Signature Chocolate Cake, Vanilla Buttercream Frosting, and topped with rolled fondant. Harry's wand and glasses are sculpted out of sugar paste and the Gryffindor scarf is made out of fondant. We hope this Harry Potter fan has a magical birthday!
