This morning I whipped up this Red Velvet Cake with Vanilla Buttercream Frosting for a wedding cake tasting.
I also just happened to see this great link on Cupcake Takes the Cake, that ponders the question, why is Red Velvet such a popular flavor? I think that the quote from the little boy at Golden Belt last month says it pretty well, "The red stuff tastes just like cake but the white stuff on top [White Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting] is awesome!"
I think its popularity is so interesting too! It's our best seller at Cupcake in Charleston, and most people don't even know what it is or why it's red!
ReplyDeleteI think its the cream cheese frosting too! I just wish you could color it red without all that food coloring - I heard about using beets... but I've also heard it can turn it an awful looking brown too.
